IPTV in Kodi
Kodi needs the PVR IPTV Simple Client. Install it, point it at your M3U link and enable it. Kodi then treats the channels like a television signal and shows them in its own guide.
What you need
- Kodi on a device from our list.
- The PVR IPTV Simple Client, from the official Kodi repository.
- Your M3U link from us.
Setup
- Open Kodi and go to Add ons, then Install from repository.
- Open the Kodi repository, then PVR clients, and install PVR IPTV Simple Client.
- Open its settings and go to the general tab.
- Choose Remote path and paste your M3U link.
- Enable the add on in the television settings of Kodi.
- Restart Kodi if the channel list does not appear.
The programme guide
For a guide the client needs an XMLTV address in its EPG settings. We send one with your access details where the feed provides it. Guide data comes from the feed, not from Kodi. If the guide stays empty, check the address and restart Kodi.
Honest limits
Kodi is a media centre, not a television app. Channel switching is slower than in IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate, and the interface is not built for a remote. If you only want to watch channels, use a player built for that. Kodi is the right tool when you already use it.
Questions about this page
Do I need a special Kodi build?
No. The official PVR IPTV Simple Client from the Kodi repository is enough.
Which Kodi version do I need?
A current version. Very old versions handle the PVR client differently.
Can Kodi record a channel?
Kodi can record through a PVR backend. We do not provide one and we do not support recording.
Is Kodi better than IPTV Smarters Pro?
For watching channels, no. For a media centre with your own library, yes.
